Your profile exists on Spotify from the first release. Claiming it is what makes it yours: you get the blue verified check, your statistics and the right to edit how the page looks.
What you need
- At least one release that is live on Spotify, or delivered and waiting for its date.
- A Spotify account. A free one is enough.
- A way to prove the music is yours.
The steps
- Open artists.spotify.com and choose to claim a profile.
- Search for your artist name or paste the link to your profile.
- Say who you are: the artist, a manager or someone at the label.
- Prove it. The fastest way is through your distributor: many of them offer a button that hands you access at once. Without that, Spotify asks for social accounts or an email address that belongs to the artist and reviews the request by hand.
With a distributor's access button it takes minutes. A manual review can take from a few days to a few weeks.
What changes once it is claimed
- The blue check appears next to your name.
- You see listeners, streams, sources and cities in Spotify for Artists.
- You can change the picture, biography and artist pick, and pitch new releases to Spotify's editors.
- You can invite your team with different roles.
If the profile is already claimed
Then Spotify tells you that the profile has a team, and your request goes to its admins instead of to Spotify. This is normal when a label or a former manager set the profile up. Ask them to invite you. If nobody answers, or you do not know who holds it, Spotify's support can review who the profile belongs to.
Before the first release
You can claim the profile as soon as a release is delivered. Do it then: pitching to editorial playlists is only possible before release day, and it needs a claimed profile.
After you have claimed it
A claimed profile still changes by itself: releases arrive, numbers move, tracks can go offline. LabelSentry watches a verified profile for you and reports what is different, so claiming it is the start of looking after it and not the end.
